Ability to Rotate Video with iMovie on iPad?

I have shot a video clip with my iPad 2’s camera upside down. The clip is on its side and looks really crappy. How to change video in 90 degres. Is there a way to rotate a video with iMovie on the iPad? But I can’t find this setting within iMovie for iOS or normal video player.

Yeah, we all would like to shoot videos with our iPad 2, we may get frustrated by the fact that unlike the camera on the iPhone or iPod touch, the controls insist on being at the bottom of the screen. This means that when we’re holding it in landscape, the record button is nowhere near any of our fingers. To get around this, we could hold it in portrait, hit the record button and turn it ninety degrees to shoot the scene, but this creates another problem: just like the other iOS devices, the iPad 2 uses its accelerometer to determine the shot’s orientation, but this takes place only as you tap on the record button. This means that if we used this method, all our shots would be recorded in the wrong orientation. Thankfully, there’s a solution from the updated iMovies app for iOS.

iMovie for iOS (iPad): Rotate a video clip

  • With your project open, scroll the timeline until the clip you want to rotate is showing in the viewer.
  • In the viewer, move your finger and thumb in a clockwise or counterclockwise twisting motion over the video image.

When the white arrow appears, the video clip has been rotated 90 degrees. It may take a moment for the clip to appear rotated in the viewer.

Repeat this motion as many times as necessary to achieve the orientation you want.
