Apple Updates iTunes Movie Trailers App for New iPad with Higher Resolution Video

Apple has updated its iTunes Movie Trailers app to add support for the new iPad’s Retina Display with high resolution video.

Apple released an iTunes Movie Trailers app last year. The free app lets users browse hundreds of HD clips, trailers, and photos from upcoming films, find out when upcoming movies are going to be released in theatres, and purchase tickets directly on iPad.

In the updated version, all movie posters and other images, along with the actual trailers, have been optimized for the new iPad’s Retina display at a higher resolution (probably around 1080p, since that’s the usual format for these things, but we can’t be sure). The update, version 1.1, is available now in the App Store.

This way, movies will look even better on the Retina Display of your new iPad. You’ll be able to watch clips from The Hunger Gamers, The Avengers and Prometheus in what looks like 1080p. And trailers have a lot more detail on the new iPad. This app really shows off the device’s Retina Display. It’s a great way to show a skeptical friend that the new iPad’s display is, in fact, better than the iPad 2′s, or any other display.

If you’re looking for content to show off your new toy’s unique selling point, the iTunes Movie Trailers app could be a good place to start.
