How to Save and Share YouTube Videos on iPad

The iPad and iPad mini can access YouTube via the included YouTube app. Just tap the app, search away, and you’ll be watching video in no time (though “no time” will be faster if you’re connected to a Wi-Fi network).

But what about your favorite YouTube videos? What if you want to watch them over and over again – even when you’re not connected to the web, and what if you want to share with a YouTube video with someone from the YouTube app for iOS? Here’s how:

Steps to save the YouTube videos to your iPad device

  1.  You won’t be able to do this on your iPad – you’ll need to use your desktop computer – but once you’ve got the videos, you’ll be all set.
  2.  Then go to any one of the services or apps that allows you to save YouTube videos to your desktop. One that I like is iTube Studio from iSkysoft, which is easy to use yet powerful. Copy the web address of the YouTube movie into the app, choose MP4 for iPad from the drop down and click the start button. When the video is done converting, you can get it from your local computer.
  3. Then, drag the video into iTunes to add it to your iTunes library.
  4. Next, sync your iPad with your computer. In the video section, you should see the video you just downloaded from YouTube. Check the box next to it and then hit the “sync” button in the bottom right corner of the screen. The YouTube video is now saved on your device just like any other video – and you can watch it whenever, and wherever, you want.

Steps to share the YouTube videos from your iPad device

  1. Launch the YouTube app from the Home screen of your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Find the video that you’d like to share.
  3. If there aren’t controls already on the screen overlaying the video, tap on the screen inside the video pane in order to bring them up.
  4. Tap on the Share button in the upper right hand corner.
  5. Now tap on the Share option. It’s the very first option.
  6. Choose the way you’d like to share the video from the available options that include Facebook, Twitter, Google+, email, messaging, copying the link, and more.
