MPEG to iPad: How to Convert a MPEG Video File to Play on Your iPad

Luna sent us the question: I have tons of recorded content in MPEG video format on my PC. i recorded these clips through my tv tuner card. I want to transfer some of them to my ipad. How can i do that? Thanks.

Option 1. Convert MPEG to iPad format with iPad Video Converter software ($29-$39, Windows App)

Wondershare Video Converter Pro, a top-rated iPad Video Converters program for you to convert MPEG video file into an iPad-friendly .mp4 video file first and then sync to iPad.

Step 1 . Add MPEG videos to the video converter
Launch the program and from the main menu, you can click “File” ->  select the “Add File” option or use drag-n-drop to browse and import local mpeg files to the iPad video converter.

Step 2. Set the output format
Choose your iPad output in the “Profile” pull-down menu. For example: if you have a wifi iPad, select the “iPad MPEG-4 Video (*.mp4)” setting. This will give you a great-looking video and take the least amount of conversion time. Also, set Encoder, Resolution, Frame rate and Bit rate etc in the Advanced window, according to iPad’s tech specs. Please note the higher the bitrate is, the clearer the video is, and the larger the output file is. When you’re done, click “OK” to continue.

Step 3. Convert and sync MPEG to iPad
Hit “Convert” and go get a snack. The conversion time will depend on several variables including: the duration of the video file, the speed of your computer, the codec you selected and the bitrate you set. When the conversion finishes, you can connect your iPad to computer, import the converted mpeg files to iTunes and sync your video to iPad.

Option 2.  Play MPEG on iPad with OPlayer HD app ($4.99, iOS app)

OPlayer HD is used to boost your iPad’s media abilities, you can also use it to streaming audio and video over the internet.

To play mpeg video on iPad, you need

2. Connect iPad to computer with cable
