Quick Look – World Cup Countdown 2010 for iPad

The World Cup is my absolute favorite sports event; which is saying quite a bit because I’m a huge sports fan across the board.  So an iPad app with World Cup in its title will always get at least a look from me – especially as matches begin less than 100 days from now.

World Cup Countdown 2010 is the perfect app for keeping up on the news and information on the upcoming 2010 World Cup in South Africa. If you are a fan of soccer like I am then you’re probably eagerly anticipating the World Cup this summer. Even if you’re not a huge soccer fan it’s still exciting to be able to root on your country while competing on the worlds largest stage in the worlds most popular sport.

Can’t wait for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, then this app is for you, the 2010 World Cup Countdown!

This World Cup Countdown is loaded with features:

  • RSS news feed: Use the default news feed for the World Cup latest news or change it to your favorite feed. Top 5 feeds are shown overlaid on top of the image and you can hide them using the ‘arrow’. Tap a feed to open the URL and load the news feed in Safari.
  • Comes with 16 team / country images, including: Australia, New Zealand, Italy, France, England, Spain, Mexico, USA, Switzerland, Netherlands, South Africa, Argentina, Brazil, Germany, Japan and Portugal.
  • Add your own image! If you are not happy with the default images just add your own 320px wide by 480px high portrait image. Just load the image into iPhoto and sync the image with your iPad or iPhone, then use the “Set Image” button on the options pages to choose your picture.
  • Now you can view the match schedule for all matches, including group matches, round of 16, quarter finals, semi finals and the finals. Match information and results will be updated frequently once the tournament begins via your WiFi or data connect. Click the “calendar” icon on the top right side of the screen to view the schedule.

Get ready for the World Cup and get World Cup Countdown 2010 app on your iPad now. I’m excited to put it to use once the action gets live, and I’ll be sure to provide an update then. You can find World Cup Countdown in the App Store now, and it’s a free iPad app.
