RMVB to iPad: How to Convert a RMVB Video File to Play on Your iPad
Missa sent us the question: Is there a way to move RMVB movies on my computer to iPad and play them, or do I have to convert them to iPad compatible files, such as MP4 before I can move them to iPad?
Option 1. Play RMVB on iPad OPlayer HD app ($4.99, iOS app)
OPlayer HD is used to boost your iPad’s media abilities, you can also use it to streaming audio and video over the internet. To play RMVB video on iPad, you need to connect to iTunes (via cable or wirelessly) and select iPad under devices (on the right hand side). Then go to the apps tab, scroll down to the File Sharing section and click on oplayer HD (left column labelled apps). Then select add the file(s) you desire.
Option 2. Convert RMVB to iPad format with iPad Video Converter software ($29-$39, Windows App)
Wondershare Video Converter Pro, a top-rated iPad video conversion program for you to convert RMVB video file into an iPad-friendly .mp4 video file first and then sync to iPad. Our absolute favorite iPad video converter due to its speed, the simplicity of the interface, the quality of the output file, and its ability to convert any video to iPad. That said, there are many iPad video converter options available – here’s a list of our highest recommended iPad Video Converters – so whichever one you choose, you should be able to achieve similar results following these steps.
Step 1 . Add RMVB videos to the video converter
Launch the program and from the main menu, you can click “File” -> select the “Add File” option or use drag-n-drop to browse and import local RMVB files to the program.
Step 2. Set the output format
Choose your iPad output in the “Profile” pull-down menu. For example: if you have a wifi iPad, select the “iPad MPEG-4 Video (*.mp4)” setting. This will give you a great-looking video and take the least amount of conversion time. Also, set Encoder, Resolution, Frame rate and Bit rate etc in the Advanced window, according to iPad’s tech specs. Please note the higher the bitrate is, the clearer the video is, and the larger the output file is. When you’re done, click “OK” to continue.
Step 3. Start RMVB to iPad compatible format Conversion
Hit “Convert” and go get a snack. The conversion time will depend on several variables including: the duration of the video file, the speed of your computer, the codec you selected and the bitrate you set.
When the conversion finishes, you can connect your iPad to computer, import the converted rmvb files to iTunes and sync your video to iPad.
