Siri May Help with Movie Ticket Purchases in iOS 6.1

Appleā€™s virtual assistant Siri became a bit of a movie buff in iOS 6, now it will get a little smarter with the next version of iOS. According to 9to5Mac,the iOS 6.1 update will give the voice-command feature the ability to order movie tickets through Fandango.

To buy movie tickets using the voice activated virtual personal assistant, all you need to do is to speak to Siri to tell her to buy you the tickets for the movie you want to see. When you mention that you want to buy tickets to a particular movie, the theater information and showtimes will be displayed. When you click on “purchase tickets” you are sent to the Fandango app to finish the transaction and if you don’t have the app, you are prompted to install it. Siri will only purchase tickets for theaters in the United States and not every theater is participating in this feature. Those theaters that are compatible with Siri will be listed with a small movie ticket icon. It is possible that once the ticket is purchased, it would appear in Apple’s new Passbook app.

The feature is exclusive to the U.S., according to the report, and not all movie theaters will be part of the program. The report added that compatible theaters listed by Siri will have a small movie ticket.
