YouTube made a big announcement on Thursday: add paid subscriptions for certain channels. It had been rumored for some time that YouTube was readying some sort of paid model and today that becomes reality. Best of all, once signed up for a paid channel, you can watch on your iPad, iPhone and Apple TV beyond the browser on your Mac, and even suck down as much video as it has to offer.
YouTube will now let a few dozen of popular channels charge viewers a subscription fee of 99 cents or …
We known the YouTube Capture which released last December made it easy to capture, lightly edit, and upload videos from your iPhone or iPod Touch. Now, with recent update, YouTube Capture is universal, letting videographers upload videos straight from their iPad and iPad Mini tablet.
After installing the app, you’ll need to sign in to your YouTube account, allow the app to access your Camera Roll. After this initial setup process, there is a fourth setting you might want to enable: rotate to begin recording. With it turned on, you don’t …
Michel sent us a question below.

Apple’s AirPlay may have some competition in the future thanks to DIAL, an open-source, second-screen protocol being developed by Netflix and YouTube.
DIAL, short for “discovery and launch,” lets second-screen app developers discover and launch apps on smart TVs and other connected devices. It’s meant to work seamlessly, so apps can easily find compatible devices on the same network and launch their apps with little user intervention.
Netflix says it partnered with YouTube because “having two major video services define and promote DIAL would help get it more widely adopted as a …
YouTube app for iPad has an useful feature that allows you to create lists of videos that you like. You can make as many lists as you want, and then add as many videos as you want to each one. However, this feature is somewhat buried. In this post, I’ll show you where to go to make a playlist and how to add and remove videos with YouTube’s iPad app.
Add to Playlist

The 7.9-inch screen of the iPad Mini is great for watching video, but sadly the iPad Mini with iOS 6 doesn’t include the YouTube app which shipped with every other iPad.
Thankfully, there are still ways to watch YouTube on the iPad Mini, and both methods are arguably better than the YouTube app that used to ship with iOS 5.
A New YouTube App from the App Store
Just because the original app was removed doesn’t mean that YouTube is blocked from iOS 6 and iOS devices(including the iPad Mini). Virtually as soon …
A friend of mine who received an iPad from his employer wanted to show me a YouTube video on a lunch break one day and I noticed that the pages on Youtube were loading rather slowly. I first thought that it was a connection issue but apparently Youtube was slow to load even if the fastest most reliable Wi-Fi connection was active.
Apple’s official discussion board is filled with user reports that mention issues they experience on Youtube. Here is a short selection:
